The youth wing of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) is hinting of a breakaway faction following the suspension of their General Secretary and Youth Commander.
The CPP in a statement signed by the Communication Director, Abdul Kadri said Ernesto Yeboah and the party’s General Secretary, Nii Armah Akomfrah have been suspended for acts of indiscipline.
He explained that, the position taken by the two on the ford expedition gift to the President contrary to the position of the party’s flagbearer, Ivor Greenstreet may have influenced the decision of the party.
But the General Secretary of the Brong Ahafo regional branch of the CPP, Isaac Gyan in an interview on Adom News described as unfortunate the decision to suspect the two vibrant party members.
According to him, aggrieved members of the party are calling on the two [Akomfrah and Ernesto] to form their own political party if the Central Committee does not reverse the decision.
“Majority of CPP members especially the youth are peeved by the decision. They have not don’t anything wrong’ they just said the obvious truth” he stressed.
The CPP man is convinced the unpopular decision by the party’s flagbearer could affect the electoral fortunate of the party ahead of the November polls.
“Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, founder of the CPP will be turning in his grave now because of this decision. The party is going against its own principles” he bemoaned.
Isaac Gyan called on the party leadership to put the interest of the CPP first to ensure the dreams and aspirations of its founder and achieved.
