Former National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker for Ahafo Ano North in the Ashanti Region  Hon. Akwasi Adusei has attacked a survey conducted by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana which reveals ex-President John Dramani Mahama is the best bet to lead the party   for the  2020 polls.

“We don’t need any survey from University of Ghana for respondents to call for John Mahama to lead NDC in 2020. …I am aware he is the best candidate to present”, he said.

According to him, the writings are clear on the wall the immediate past President John Mahama is the person to lead NDC to wrestle power from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“It is not new to hear some members of our party want JM back as flagbearer”, the staunch supporter of the 2016 party’s flagbearer spoke on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM morning show.

According to him, both grassroots and leading members of the party are all bent on working day and night to convince Mr. John Mahama to contest for the party’s presidential primaries when nominations are opened.

“I personally have done some work to convince JM to come and lead us to victory”, the former lawmaker revealed to host Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin.

A survey conducted has revealed that 58% of voters believe that former President John Dramani Mahama, should lead the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections.

Head of the Political Science Department, of the University of Ghana ,Dr. Bossman Asare, who made this revelation while presenting the survey findings, said : “We wanted to find out who the voters think should lead the party [NDC] in 2020, and overwhelmingly 58% of the candidates we interviewed said they believed Mr. Mahama will become the candidate and a number of them generally said they wanted Mr. Mahama to come”

“It means when you look at the graph, some people were getting 2 percent. Prof Alabi, Ricketts Hagan, Spio Grabrah, I think all of them were getting less than 7% so we were all surprised”, he stated.
