Popular Kumawood actor Papa Kumasi has revealed that starting acting in Kumawood was not as easy for him as it appears from the outside, because joining and succeeding in Kumawood was not easy when his career started.
Speaking on Tracey Boakye’s show on Shakira TV, ‘Time With Tracey’, Papa Kumasi said he has paid his dues in the movie industry and was humbled to have been able to come far to where he is now.
In the interview covered by MYNEWSGH.com, he revealed that he once slept at a Hotel reception because the rooms were shared out for the big-name cast of the movie.
With the hotel rooms finished, he said he had to sleep at the reception for the entire four days of the shoot, with the saddest part being that he never got a chance to shoot any scene, he told Tracey Boakye.
“I remember vividly I slept on Eric Asante’s set, May his soul rest in perfect peace. It was Duase Kenyase, No Limit. That time he used to call me Austin. He said, ‘young man, I have seen that you are a serious person, all those who came for the shoot if you say anyone should sleep here (reception), they won’t. Some have even left home, so don’t worry’,” Papa Kumasi told Tracey Boakye.
“The way mosquitoes dealt with me there, but it is what has encouraged me to work hard up to today”, he added.
He said it was part of the things he considers as a training for himself as having passed through, which today’s up and coming actors should be able to emulate and stomach worst treatments to prepare themselves for greatness.
Time with Tracey is a weekly celebrity interview show hosted by Kumawood actress and entrepreneur Tracey Boakye.
