The Minister of Trade and Industry, Hon. John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen on Thursday, April 12, 2018, cut the sod for the construction of the office complex of Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry(GNCCI)
The (2) story-building, with provisions for future expansion, was estimated at a cost of US$3.2 million will serve as its National Secretariat in view of constraints by the Chamber in the provision of office space to support its members and business start-ups
Speaking at the event, the congratulated the Chamber for the bold step to construct an office complex to run its operations.
“It’s been long overdue and I share in this joy for this groundbreaking ceremony today”, he said.
He used the opportunity to assure the members of GNCCI and its stakeholders that the Government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will continue to pursue measures that will inure to the benefit of the Ghanaian economy as it reforms the business regulatory environment for businesses towards government’s industrial transformation agenda to make Ghana one of the most sought-after investment destinations globally.
The surface or ground floor will have a reception, lift and staircase areas occupying an area of 66 square metres and a 34-car parking capacity.
The first floor will host the conference rooms occupying about 625 square metres while the second floor will have the GNCCI offices occupying about 603 square metres.
The building complex will also have an accessible roof floor for corporate events, a restaurant, and a gym all occupying about 603 square metres.
Since its inception in 1961, the Chamber has carried out its activities from rented apartments for its National Secretariat and Regional offices at high costs and attendant maintenance issues.
