A Circuit Court in Goaso in the Brong Ahafo region has sentenced a 29-year-old, Isaac Kano into two years imprisonment for stealing locally distilled gin popularly known as “Akpeteshie” valued at GH¢700.

The accused was convicted on his own plea of guilty

Presenting the facts of the case before the court, Chief Inspector Abochi told the court presided over by His honour Matthew Kyeremanteng that both the accused person and Mr Paul Kano who is the complainant are residents of Goaso in the Asunafo North municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region.

He said the accused person who is a former employee of the complainant on April 17,2018, went to the complainant’s distillation yard near “river Goa” at Goaso Manhyia and stole seven “kufuor gallons” of Akpeteshie valued at GH¢700. 00 and loaded them on a tricycle towards an unknown destination

Chief Inspector Abochi said in the process a 14-year-old girl who saw the accused person and wanted to raise alarm but the accused person promised to give her GH¢40 and asked her to keep mute on the matter.

He said the girl however, broke the news to her mother leading to his arrest and subsequent prosecution.
