A renowned Sports Journalist, Kofi Appiah, has asked Ghanaians to reject the apology of Kwasi Nyantakyi because it has no grain of remorse.
According to him, anyone who regrets committing a crime or wrong doing shows some remorse in their speech and action but such elements were missing in Mr Nyantakyi’s apology letter.
The Freedom Fighter, as he is popularly called, said he was touched when the Overlord of Waala Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV made a plea to President Akufo-Addo and Ghanaians in general to forgive the former FA boss over his alleged acts of corruption.
“Waa-Naa should have advised Kwesi Nyantakyi to withdraw the apology he made to the President of Ghana and the citizenry and rather issue a new apology letter of remorse to the public to save his image”, he said.
In an interview on Adom FM’s Burning Issues Monday, Kofi Appiah said there was no heartfelt remorse in that apology and for that matter Ghanaians must ignore it.
Meanwhile, another sports journalist, Henry Asante Twum, has asked the country’s political authorities to think about how football can be made more attractive again without attaching emotions.
Mr Nyantakyi was seen in a video convincing “investors” to bribe top government officials for a chance to win contracts in Ghana.
And, Henry Asante says Ghana can take advantage of the situation and sit down to critically restructure Ghana football for the betterment of the future without compromising the passions and emotions of the people.
