Investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has warned the Akufo-Addo government to stay off the mandate of the Auditor-General as the government has already succeeded in making Martin Amidu “a giant bird without feathers”.
The Auditor-General, Daniel Yao Domelevo and his Chairman Prof. Edward Dua Agyeman have been in the news over interference in audit work by the Board Chairman.
There have also been a sustained attack on Mr Domelevo by government-aligned newspapers which has created the impression of a scheme to boot out the hardworking Auditor-General, Mr Domelevo
Mr Domelevo has sent a petition to the President dated July 27, 2018 and requests the President to intervene in the “unlawful interferences” by the Board Chairman of the Ghana Audit Service whom the Auditor-General accusing of manipulating the procurement processes among others.
Mr. Domelevo’s petition also accused the Chairman and his allies of clothing themselves with powers to direct and control him unconstitutionally.
He is vowing he will “not obey any unlawful instructions from the Board, including existing and new decisions that are inconsistent with the Constitution…
But whatever the plan of government is, Manasseh Azure Awuni warns that “the govt should not try to touch Mr Domelevo”.
