Serial callers of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, have revealed that they have spent GH¢28, 800 each on phone calls and messaging into various programmes on radio stations since 2012 in defense of the party, MyNewsGH.com can report
The Ashanti Regional Serial Callers Association on Wednesday declared strike over hardship forcing them to burn their phones and SIM cards to show the party leadership they are not at peace with them considering the unfair treatment being meted out to them.
“Some people think those of us who talk on radio through phones are useless. We are demonstrating to you a little bit of what we go through. Even if each of us owns only five phones and buys airtime of GH¢10, it will cost GH¢ 300 every month. We have been speaking for the past 8 years. The accumulated cost for 8 years is GH¢ 28,800. Which elder or DCE can boldly say he spends more than we do?” The leader of the aggrieved callers quizzed during their demonstration exercise which took place in the regional capital, Kumasi.
As they burnt their mobile phones and used vouchers they chanted, “Yeeni abre, yeni Abre Kooo!!!! Yeeni abre, yeni Abre Kooo!!!!” to wit we are wild now.
MyNewsGh.com however gathered tha , the party’s leadership has released a total amount of GH¢90, 000 for the serial callers but they denied receiving such an amount from the leadership or anybody.
The serial callers have also accused First Regional Vice Chairman of the party, Mr. Kwabena Nsenkyire of disrespecting members in a recent meeting with the party leadership held with them.
