A security man of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) did not only flee from danger in the heat of violent protestations by students, but he was also denied the opportunity to enjoy his pot of banku that was on fire prior to the attack.
An image circulating on social media sighted by MyNewsGh.com revealed some students carrying the banku away after vandalizing property at the security posts and chasing them away in retaliation of the beating of their colleague.
It is not immediately known if the intent of the students was to complete the preparation and consume it themselves or it was just for the cameras.
But as covered extensively by MyNewsGh.com, the students according to the account of police investigators had decided to embark on what they initially termed a peaceful walk to present their petition to the Vice-Chancellor in protest against what they referred to as the brutalities being meted out to students by the KNUST security services.
The students under the guise of having a peaceful walk and to present their grievances to the university, authorities rather went on the rampage, attacked the main security office and caused damage to five cars, furniture whiles eight motorbikes were also set ablaze.
The students in their numbers then matched on to the main administration block of the university where more than 20 private cars belonging to the staff of the university were greatly damaged as the reception of the main administration block was totally vandalized.
The security guards had vanished from all the checkpoints on the campus as all facilities at those cheeks points were destroyed.
