Flagbearer hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Joshua Alabi has charged regional executives of the party to be neutral.

Ahead of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) flagbearer elections, some regional executives have declared their support to some aspirants’ especially former president John Dramani Mahama and in the Ashanti Region have branded the secretariat with his posters.

The Ashanti Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress subsequently declared full support for the candidature of former President John Mahama to lead the party as its flagbearer in 2020 a move that has angered the retired professor of the University for Professional Studies (UPS).

Speaking on Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra, Professor Joshua Alabi described regional executives declaring their support to one candidate as unfortunate.

According to him, the move by regional executives of the party can affect the democracy of the party.

“Kwame I have heard some regional executives declaring their support to one candidate. Though I don’t want to believe that rumor but I am urging them to be neutral since NDC is a democratic party” he said.

Professor Joshua Alabi added that he will win the party presidential primaries hands down.

According to him, he has all the qualities and capabilities to win power for the NDC Party in the 2020 general elections adding that his vision is to unite the party and change the fortunes of the party.

Although as Executives they are expected to be neutral, the recently elected Regional executives led by Augustus Nana Kwasi Andrew who beat Joseph Yammin have openly thrown their support behind the candidature of former President John Dramani Mahama as reported by MyNewsGh.com days ago.

The 2020 presidential race of the National Democratic Congress is expected to be competitive considering the number of party members eyeing the position, but it is widely believed former President John Mahama will win.
