Reggae Dancehall artiste Samini and actor John Dumelo are slugging it out on Twitter over the ongoing debate surrounding the proposed new 450-seat chamber for Ghana’s Parliament.

Mr Dumelo, also a member of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), in a tweet said the new chamber was needless and should be dropped.

“$200m can build 10 factories to employ 10,000 youth. We, the youth, are pleading with parliament. Yes, it’s necessary but pls don’t build that chamber now. #DropThatChamber,” Mr Dumelo tweeted.

Samini, also in a tweet, supported the actor’s call but enquired about the V8 cars that Mr Dumelo got under the Mahama administration, which, in his view, could have been used to help alleviate the plight of some Ghanaians had the money used in procuring them been channelled into socially beneficial ventures.

Samini tweeted: “Good point. Same way one #V8 cost can do wonders in my village boss. Did you try to keep it or they lied on you chale … Ghana wants to know”.
