The accusation against the Deputy Minister comes at the back of reported incessant cases of corruption and corruption related activities on the part of appointees of the Nana Addo government.
Mr Hadzide who was then Deputy Minister for Sports was suspended alongside Acting Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Robert Sarfo Mensah, on April 12, 2018 for their alleged roles in a visa racketeering scandal during the 2018 Commonwealth games.
At least 50 persons who claimed to be journalists and were in Australia to cover the Commonwealth Games were arrested and repatriated for bearing false identities.
However, a police report exonerated Mr Pius Enam Hadzide who was subsequently reinstated.
On a live television programme on GhOne TV monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Mr Hadzide appeared who appeared as a guest with the National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress Sammy Gyamfi was seen wearing a beaming smile as he was strongly accused of being corrupt.
Sammy Gyamfi questioned the commitment of the President in fighting corruption.
“If you want to know that President Akufo-Addo cannot fight corruption…look at Pius Hadzide sitting here. He is a locus classics of corruption under Nana Akufo Addo. He as Deputy Sports Minister led a team of Ghanaians to Australia and it was found out the Australian authorities that 60 of these Ghanaians were only masquerading as journalists when they were not and he (Pius) was the leader of that delegation. His own boss Hon. Isaac Asiamah compiled the report to the President and indicted him as the responsible for that crime- Visa racketeering. He was suspended and Investigations were conducted into the matter. We have been told that he has been exonerated,” he said.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, transparency is a key element in the fight against corruption but this is not found under the current administration.

“We all know that opacity breeds corruption. So if he has been cleared and there is evidence to clear them, why can’t that report be published? We have been calling for the publication of this report for months but President Akufo-Addo has turned a blind eye and Deaf ears to that because there is no report. He (President) supports and promotes corruption. That is why after he Pius engaging in that reckless irresponsible corruption conduct, can still get the temerity to come and sit here and talk about corruption. He is a walking case of corruption. In any other country he would be standing prosecution by now”, he added.
