Two persons are in a critical condition after they engaged in a bloody machete fight over a disputed land at Kojokrom, a suburb in Elobonkanta in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region.
According to the police, the two persons namely Solomon Arku and Kwaku Prosper who are in their thirties, had a fight over a land on last Sunday, leading to their current situation.
Municipal Police Commander, DSP Valentine Akporsu explained that, during the early hours of Sunday, Solomon Arku was working on his farm when Kwaku Prosper with a machete showed up at the farm, questioning Arku why working on the land which belongs to him.
This led to exchange of words which led to Prosper slashing the right shoulder of Arku who also managed to snatch the machete from Prosper and also used it on him.
According to DSP Akporsu, Solomon Arku sustained a deep cut and currently receiving treatment at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital whilst Prosper is at the Agona Nkwanta health center.
DSP Valentine Akporsu explained that, “this case has been on our table for a long time. They have been having litigation about that particular land. The case has even gotten to the Regional Police Commander. Unfortunately, this happened this morning.
“We have begun investigations into the issue, and whoever is found guilty will be put before the laws. For what I know, this case is purely a land litigation issue and has nothing to do with.”
