Finance Minister acquires Kantanka salon car; others to follow?

Ken Ofori Atta

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta has led the way for appointees in the current administration by acquiring a Kantanka Salon car for himself.

The vehicles made my Apostle Kwadow Safo known as African Star who is also minister, philanthropist and the owner of Kantanka Group of Companies is now on sale on the Ghanaian market.

Private legal practitioner, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko flaunted the vehicle of the Finance Minister on his facebook page saying:” The Finance Minister drove to the National Theatre Wednesday to deliver his lecture in a Ghana-made black saloon car, Kantanka. He has bought one for himself and testing it. Your guess is as good as mine as to what next!

It is not clear if government has plans to acquire the Kantanka vehicles instead for its Ministers to cut down cost of fuel after he had hinted earlier Ministers and their Deputies will from next year be restricted only to the use of Toyota Corrola and Camry for official duties.

“I hear so much talk about V8 this month and I am a little confused. What I do know is that the Minister of Finance has stubbornly refused to buy the usual Toyota Landcruiser V8 or what-have-you for ministers since the change in Govt. Even the vehicles that were ordered by the previous Govt have had to be audited and stalled and audited with little appetite for them except that the contract may have to be honoured even after some necessary adjustments. I am also aware that the Finance Minister is in fact planning to buy Toyota Camry, Corolla and the like for Ministers and their deputies, etc. from 2018 onwards. So why all of a sudden all the talk as if there is rather a surge in V8 numbers procured for Govt officials? The irony of social media campaigns, sometimes”, he was quoted as saying.
